  • Since 2019, up to 500,000 US troops serving in recent wars have been diagnosed with PTSD. Source
  • Over 90% of the American population exhibits codependent behavior due to a veteran in their lives who has PTSD. This leads to Secondary Traumatic Stress Disorder (STSD). Source
  • All require some form of treatment. Group and individual coaching have proven to provide safe, understanding spaces for expression, learning communication, and problem-solving skills.

Hummingbird Haven is a part of the Antelope Valley (AV) community, motivated by these facts to care for local veterans and their loved ones affected by PTSD and STSD. We aim to enhance AV’s supportive and welcoming nature for all veterans and their families.

Meet The Founders

Hummingbird Haven, Inc. is the brainchild of founder Kimberly Habi.  Together, with her husband, the idea of one-stop services dedicated to supporting the livelihood of Veterans and their loved ones grew as they learn to manage a life with PTSD.

“We got here because we really do care about Veterans.  Our life experiences are rooted in service to others so it made perfect sense when we teamed up to bring Hummingbird Haven to life.  Now, as we continue to build the organization, we look forward to supporting our Veterans and their loved ones in ways that lead them to greater happiness and a strong sense of their ability to overcome challenges they may face.”

Kimberly Habi

Founder & CEO

A native of Philadelphia, PA, Kimberly Habi is a compassionate advocate and strategic partner liaison for Hummingbird Haven. She relocated to Los Angeles in 2014 with her husband, Dedoceo Habi, a Marine Veteran with PTSD. Her dedication to supporting veterans and their families was sparked by her marriage to Dedoceo, providing her with personal insight into this community’s unique struggles and needs.

Kimberly has an impressive Administration, Event Planning, and Social Services background. She serves as an ambassador at the Antelope Valley Chamber of Commerce and has dedicated over two decades to various roles in the non-profit sector. These diverse experiences honed her skills in case management and her ability to build impactful, life-changing relationships.

Having contracted with numerous non-profit organizations to assist in laying their foundations and identifying lasting strategic partnerships, Kimberly’s expertise extends beyond direct service provision. She’s instrumental in strengthening the organizational structure of non-profit institutions, contributing significantly to their success and reach.

Kimberly’s journey in managing her husband’s PTSD has been the impetus behind Hummingbird Haven. Her experience and deep understanding of PTSD and Secondary Traumatic Stress Disorder (STSD), drives her dedication to educating others about these conditions.

With her compassion, emotional empathy, and an unwavering belief in her ability to support others, Kimberly is well-poised to help veterans and their families live a life free from negative energy and thoughts.

Dedoceo Habi

Co-founder & Interim Board Chair

Hailing from the charming city of Savannah, GA, Dedoceo Habi is a passionate advocate and support specialist for veterans grappling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Born and raised in a vibrant community, Dedoceo’s formative years were grounded in service through his church, shaping his profound appreciation for serving others and harnessing the strength of communal collaboration.

Dedoceo’s service to his country spans his honorable tenures in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force. During his service, he was exposed to an event that triggered  PTSD, providing him with a unique empathy and understanding of the challenges veterans face.

Thanks to the unwavering support of the Veterans Administration, his loving family, and his perseverance, Dedoceo not only learned to manage his PTSD effectively but also found his voice advocating for others. This journey ingrained him with a passion for speaking about the benefits of seeking help and undertaking personal growth, becoming a beacon of hope for veterans in similar circumstances.

In addition to his military and community service, Dedoceo holds degrees in Film and Entertainment Business and has an extensive background in technology. His technological savvy and passion for media allow him to craft compelling narratives that raise awareness about PTSD while supporting Hummingbird Haven’s objectives.

Dedoceo utilizes his skills to propel the organization’s mission forward while providing much-needed support to his fellow veterans, and also serves as interim Board Chair.

Additionally, we’re excited to be the newest Antelope Valley Chambers of Commerce member. This allows us to interact with dedicated professionals who share our commitment to building a robust community.

We’re also proud to share that our CEO, Kimberly Habi, is extending her influence as a Chamber Ambassador to the business community, advocating for our mission and fostering fruitful connections.

Finally, community support for Hummingbird Haven continues to humble us because so many great businesses want to help in our efforts to build a stronger Veteran community.  We would like to thank each business donor or sponsor in the most sincere way.

We welcome new partners because

there is so much we can do together.

Partnering with a non-profit organization is important because it allows businesses to contribute to social causes and make a positive impact on communities. By collaborating with a non-profit, companies can enhance their corporate social responsibility efforts, build a positive brand image, and engage with a wider audience who supports the organization’s mission. Additionally, partnering with a non-profit can provide businesses with valuable networking opportunities and access to resources that can further their own goals and objectives.
